Chihuahuas are like potato chips, You can't have just one.

Rising Suns Essentially Onyx

(My Shadow)

I don't know how she got here...
I honestly don't like long coat dogs.
I was never even fond of long coat Chihuahuas.
So how do I end up with the breed
with the highest volume of grooming needed...lol
Well I'll tell you-
It started out with pics from my friend Paula.
She sent out pics of her new litter of all Black Blobs of hair.
I thought "Yep looks like hair to me"
But said...Awww how cute, to Paula.

About two weeks later I went to Paulas.
And saw these little ones in person.
I thought omg how cute...and I actually meant it...lol
I still said "Oh I couldn't own one of those."
Another week goes by and I'm home thinking,
"Why am I always thinking about those black hair balls?"
So I call Paula and we talk and I mention
I may actually want one...
Paula offers me the female.
I said "Yeah well maybe"
A few days more and I'm calling Paula...
"Yes I want her!"

So I wait and as days pass into weeks
I'm getting excited, but acting cool.
I don't want anyone to know I want this dog.
But I'm really excited.
So I get the call...
"You can come pick her up this week."
And I'm off and running....
I pick her up, OMG she's so cute I could die.
I get her home...
OMG she's so sweet, I'm gonna let her sleep in bed with me.

She licks my face at 4 am and jumps on my head
and pees all over me...and I just say
"Awwww poor baby"
Get a towel, cover the pee spot and cuddle her back to sleep.
I call Paula....
"OMG I just love this dog"
A few weeks go by...
Shadow as she is now known.
Is glued to me...
Sleeps on my feet during the day.
At my side in bed at night.
Plays any game I ask her to.
Does not chew things up.
Is puppy pad trained 3 days after being here.
Cuddles everyone.
Greets strangers with great warmth.
She's the perfect dog.
So I'm looking into her big dark eyes
as she lays in my arms like a baby.
And I think
"You are the most beautiful dog in the world"
And a lite goes on in my head...
She is the most beautiful dog...
She's a Show Dog
She's my show dog.
I'm showing this dog.

So I call Paula and tell her
"We're going to our first confirmation class"
I think Paula thought I was joking....
I started studying grooming.
I bought a table, brushes, combs, bands,
bows, shampoos, conditioners, styling sprays.
We go to our first class...
OMG she hates it...
She's scared to death.
She's cowering on my feet.
She's flopping down with (pretend) boneless legs.
She's rolling and screaming on lead.
I get her to move a total of 3 feet that first night.
Our classes slowly improve.
Theres a Puppy Match...
We're at the Puppy Match...
I'm scared to death...
I have no clue what to do with her...
We groom and wait...
She gets scared of some of the bigger breeds.
She spooks and wants to hide.
She's trying to be big and brave.
I pick her up and cuddle her and kiss her.
We get into the ring...
She does everything I ask.
Greets the judge with a kiss
and stands for exam (even her mouth)
We win a First and a Best of Breed.
I'm elated....
The judges and veteran show people
come up to us after the show.
Everyone thinks she just so cute.
They Say..
Gosh she's pretty.
Where did she come from?
She has a great head.
Perfect bite.
So sweet.
Great form.
She can even move, for a puppy.
If you stick with her she'll finish for sure.

She's the most beautiful dog in the world.
And now everyone else thinks so too.

We're going to be showing again very soon.
We still do conformation classes every week.
Her next BIG show is a 4 dayer
in Late May 2008
I will keep you all updated.

I can NOT thank Paula enough...
This is a huge gift you have given me.
Shadow is just something that shines
She wins everyone over.
She loves to be loved.

Thank you so so so much, Paula.

If your reading this and thinking
"I really want a Shadow"

in finding your own Shadow.
